Mater Hospital Dublin
Project START
Following a lengthy and detailed tender process, Fenlon Electrical won this major project based in Dublin's Mater Hospital.
START, a physician-run clinical trials company based in San Antonio, Texas, manages the largest phase-1 cancer clinical research network in the world.
START Dublin is the most recent addition to its network. Its mission is to accelerate the development of new anti-cancer drugs that will improve the quality of life and survival of patients with cancer and lead to its eventual cure. For patients with advanced cancer, the START program offers access to experimental treatments that keep pace with the rapid progress of science.
Since its inception in 2007, START’s network has grown to a total of eight dedicated units spanning both the US and Europe, conducting approximately 1200 studies, and treating more than 10,000 patients. START has led the development of paradigm-changing drugs such as pembrolizumab.
CLIENT BRIEF
The Mater and its clinical team focused on early completion by all involved.
START Dublin is fully embedded within the oncology directorate of the MMUH with the intention of increasing treatment options for patients.
Its aim is to offer Irish patients access to cutting-edge clinical trials that previously would have necessitated overseas travel.
TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS
All healthcare work demands shared understanding by diverse stakeholders: in this case Mater Hospital, JV Tierneys, Simon Bernard Ltd and Brock Finucane.
Our experience in healthcare, including delivery of complex projects in the nucleus of a live hospital, was key to our team's approach. A quality delivery and handover on this esteemed project has endorsed us for many projects with The Mater and all stakeholders since completion.
